Should Puerto Rico Become The 51st State?
Puerto Rico is a United States territory of over 3.2 million people, one that is larger in population than over 20 other states within the United States. Population is just one of the many reasons as to why Puerto Rico should be granted alongside issues like lack of federal disaster relief funding, no voting representation, and the most important, the passion of Puerto Rican citizens to become the newest state, with over half wanting to. This will be an easier topic to argue on due to its more mainstream relevance with recent hurricanes hitting the island as well as the idea of it being admitted as a state alongside the District of Columbia. This issue is better than others due to its large amount of reputable evidence backing it and virtually no counter-argument existing against it. Should College Tuition in America Be Free? College tuition in the United States has raised over 1,200% in the past forty years, leaving many new workers to live on a paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle while paying back student loans for up to twenty years after they are out of college.
